Levis Commons To Host “Baskets of Basics”

Easter Donation Drive

PERRYSBURG, OH (March 6, 2017) –A tisket a tasket, a very functional Easter basket! This year Levis Commons is going beyond the bunny with a donation drive for area shelters to meet their most basic needs.  “Baskets Of Basics” is being held now through April 1st with 4donation locations and one fun-filled day of family activities.

Personal care items such as toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, and feminine hygiene products are being collected for two area shelters.  The items will be donated to The Family House and Cocoon Shelter to assist with care while housed at the shelter, and to provide some start-up supplies as the families transition out on their own. Donations can be made during regular operating hours at the following Levis Commonsbusiness locations, now through April 1st: Blue Pacific Grill, Directions Credit Union, Salvatore Capelli Salon and Rave Cinemas at Levis Commons.

On Saturday April 1st Levis Commons will be hosting 2 fun family eventsin support of Baskets of Basics.  At 10:00am, guests can enjoy the movie “Hop” at Rave Cinemas at Levis Commons.  The cost of admission to the movie is the donation of one personal care item per person. At 1:00pm, a BMX stunt show will be provided by The Right Direction.  The high-flying bike flips and jumps can be viewed on Hollenbeck Drive next to Bar Louie with a requirement of one donation per person to Baskets of Basics.  In addition, Spoke Life Cycles will be set up at Levis Commons from Noon-3:00pm with bikes of all sizes to test drive.

“The shelters expressed a need for these basic personal care items instead of the candy and toys we have provided in the past” said Allison Schroeder, Levis Commons Marketing Director.  “We are happy to be able to provide an event and a location for the community to donate Baskets of Basics with these essential, and often taken for granted, items.”
